Re: Has anyone Rhinolined ?
Mines carpeted. But,if I went the rough and tough route I's stay away from Rhino Liner.Line-X is a far superior (and attractive) product

Re: Has anyone Rhinolined ?
I have lined the complete tub on an 86 K5, I used a DIY kit from Herculiner. Cost a hundred bucks and came out great. It is all in the prep, the better you prep the surface the better it will turn out and the longer it will last.
If you have somebody spray Line-X or similar product you will pay way more... I mean waaaay more. DIY is fine for a tub. Heard good things about the RustOleum and DupliColor, little softer texture than the Herculiner. |

Re: Has anyone Rhinolined ?
I will be doing mine inside and underneath, I did Cloud 9 also, with Line X then painted over it on the underneath side, sure cuts out a ton of road noise !

Re: Has anyone Rhinolined ?
I'll be doing the rear section of my 75 Jimmy, the front seat area will be carpeted. I've seen others and they look very good.

Re: Has anyone Rhinolined ?
I use that Dupli-Color spray on a lot of things. It's a real light coating compared to the roll-on and commercial professional stuff like Line-X. I should have said,if you are paying to have it done and want the best then it's Line-X all the way. There is no do it yourself coating that compares. It's worth every penny if a serious tough "and" attractive coating is what you want. I've had them mask and spray things like powder coated ladder racks,so the outer and under areas you see were the metallic powder coat and the upper & inner wear surfaces were color-match with a clean crisp line between the two.
I spray my shocks, fender wells, and stuff like that with the Dupli-Color. I've even sprayed on a '67 glovebox door to match the instrument panel texture. I have another set of ladder racks I sprayed about quite few years ago and it's held up pretty well. It did wear off the top edges where equipment was slid across it repeatedly. That was why I Line-Xed the other set. Even powder coat wears off.

Re: Has anyone Rhinolined ?
I rhinolined the floor in my nova. It didn't reduce much heat or noise... and when my feet were wet or dirty and then the floor got dirty it seems like i could never get it to look as fresh and black as it did when I first sprayed it.
If I did it again, I'd probably try line-x... everyone else seems to like it better.

If you do try a DIY kit beware of the fumes, when it says work in a well ventilated area they are not kidding! and because of the texture you may have a hard time getting all the dust and dirt out of the crevices unless you use a pressure washer, however if you built your rig with the ability to use a pressure washer on the inside then you probably don't care about a bit of dirt in the cracks... |
