Re: should i junk my hood

Your hood would likely make another person happy. Someone without a hood or who could use a piece of it for a patch. Send me a picture. Or post one.
I have 3 hoods, I really nice one, and 2 not so nice but repairable.

A nice hood is hard to find if you live up north, near the coast or in the rust belt. I say keep it or sell it, but don't crush it.

Post a pic.

Re: should i junk my hood

Hi,

Not too far off point, but when the painter did my hood I had him seal ALL the seams with seam sealer to keep rain water from getting into the crevices. IF you need to repaint, I'd suggest foing the same.

Re: should i junk my hood

How are the back corners?
If those are good, someone might be able to use it as a patch donor for their hood, since all of them, from '60-'66, Chevy and GMC, rust out back there.
Otherwise, it might make a good donor for sheetmetal pieces for other projects.

It would be nice to donate it if practical, or pieces of it. Also on your rust free hood, "always" open the hood after washing the truck to allow the water to drain out. Years of not opening the hood giving the water an escape path is what leads to the rust out in the first place.
