the campers are comin, the campers are comin (as in, comin along)
Thought I'd give a little update. Both are now at least road-worthy. After I got the highlander, I was planning on selling ol greenie. But, it's a Cheyenne Super and it's kinda growin on me now that I got the pc'ed wheels and caps on it... I need more space (and a lot more money). Ha. Anyway, wheels and tires and brakes complete (still need a little brake work on the 72). Found some decent caps to boot. Will be painting the yeller 73+ ones to correct blue to make it look a little better, even if they are concave. Anyhoo, they're getting there. Will have a blue plaid seat in the highlander soon I hope. Both still need tons of work, but they sure are fun to drive.

Re: the campers are comin, the campers are comin (as in, comin along)
thanks all. Sicklajoie, if I close my eyes and imagine, my ol green truck looks as good as yours... BEFORE you started the restoration, ha. Not even. Yours started off med olive, didn't it? Yours takes the cake.
Thanks for the kind words all - they are works in progress. Collecting parts for the interior(s) and need to decide on old greenie. if I'm gonna keep it, I will probably stick my buckets/console in it - if I sell it, I will likely put the olive cust cloth seat cover on it and replace the carpet/dash pad with appropriate olive trim. The highlander needs some black carpet, a dash pad, and the seat cover. Tim's workin the cover for me, looking fwd to it! Greenie needs a new trans - the one that got swapped in by the po when it wouldn't go into gear to get back up on the trailer was a junkyard hack job trans - has a shift kit with a very high stall converter in it and drives like a drag car. Really dumb. Anyway, tbd if will stab a TH350 in it or, if I keep it, put in a 2004R or TH350+GV o/u. Many moons, and many $ away yet.... |

Looking good! I like the stock look on these. Assume they are both C20's?

I like 'em both! Reminds me of bein' a kid, when everyone's dad had a 3/4 ton truck.

Re: the campers are comin, the campers are comin (as in, comin along)
both are 3/4 tonners. The white one is a 72 Custom Deluxe Custom Camper Highlander and the green one is a 71 Cheyenne Super Custom Camper. Bought the 71 first as "the" truck. Then I found the next "the" truck, the white 72. Love Highlanders, so the white one is a keeper, picked it up from the original owner a few months back, great history. Needs some work though. Although I am not real keen on how the CustomCamper20 emblem superseded the Cheyenne Super emblems in 71, the green one is one of my favorites also. It needs more work than the white one though. But it's certainly doable. Just enjoyin em in the meantime.

Re: the campers are comin, the campers are comin (as in, comin along)
They have both come a long way. Bet it feels real good to have them out and public lke that. You know if you could get a better trans. in Greenie tomorrow or Friday we could take both of them to the Brothers Show on Sunday.

Re: the campers are comin, the campers are comin (as in, comin along)
Good point! I took the 66 last year. I'm not quite sure either one of these would make it.... And considering it's supposed to be 114 deg F here on Sunday, not sure I'd go without a/c either! It'll be nice at the show (probably) but the drive home north of about Adelanto would completely suck...

Re: the campers are comin, the campers are comin (as in, comin along)
The white 72 has 265/75/16s and the green 71 has 16.5x9.5s. Both are Firestone TransForce HTs.

Looking very nice Jocko. That makes us east side of the country people cry when all we want is minimum rust and to see two back to back like yours is heaven. They both look great.
