Another disc brake conversion question
Hey guys! I pretty much know my options regarding converting to front discs. However, I'm not real clear as to whether or not there is any advantage to 71 - 72 ball joints and tie rod ends vs using the earlier ones? Are they better, more durable, etc? Thanks!

Re: Another disc brake conversion question
My opinion,... there is no reason to convert to 71-72 or 73-87 disc brakes,...
since there are now 63-70 conversion spindles. From the spindle-out they take the same parts. Your original steering parts will be fine if they are in good condition.

Re: Another disc brake conversion question
Thanks for the reply! That's my plan. I just wanted to know in case I get in to it and determine that the ball joints need to be replaced.

Quote:
QUALITY balljoints. Not the cheapest thing at the parts store. There is no need to change balljoints and steering parts anymore. I had to do that back in the late 80's because 73-87 spindles were the only choice. Companies like CPP try to sell these 73-87 conversion kits,... which is crazy. Because they sell 63-70 and 71-72 spindles also. Must be alot of profit in those stupid kits.
