Ex-maniolds
Have a 69 GMC -originally a class B motor home with a small block 350. Broke an exhaust manifold -drivers ramhorn angled- going to replace BUT my thought is to replace the engine with a later TBI 350. Does anybody know which manifolds would be the best to use the later ones or the factory rams as far as flow. The truck will be a flatbed and/or a slidebed.

Ramshorns are the way to go....from what i understand, later log style manifolds won't clear the engine mounts. There are millions of ramshorns out there in junkyards....shouldn't be too hard to find one. I sold a pair for $40 over a year ago, so plan on spending around $20 for a good used manifold.
Ramshonrs supposedly outflow all the other factory manifolds originally on carb'd V8's too

Some of the mid eighties 350s have a manifold on both sides that are above the centerline of the head, so if I were to use these there wouldn't be a frame clearance problem, but being a relatively large truck and small engine I want to shoot for the flow, such as you recommended, a ram manifold or maybe headers. For street use I tend to lean towards the cast iron for ease of maintenance.

If you get good gaskets and quality headers, them Mint will be minimal.
I have dead soft alluminum collector gaskets that I first installed in 99, and that was 2 trucks, 3 stes of headers, and countless remove and install situations. I also use the manifold gaskets up top and have never had one blow out...but hardly ever get to re-use them though. As for a manifold, I have an angled ram horn sitting here in the basement. Been sand blasted and painted cast gray with high temp header paint. There was some decent pitting, and the studs should be replaced before use. Make decent offer. The shipping may well kill the deal though. |

manifolds
The " rams horns" were all 2" exit except corvettes. If you want to run TBI I would highly suggest the 88-92 Iroc "log style" 2 1/4" mainfolds that dump to the rear. Plug the emissions fittings and enjoy. Oh, buy the way, I picked mine up not to long ago for 35$ to my door off of ebay!
