1966 factory tires? what brand??

Does anyone know what brand tire was factory on a 1966 c10? I am trying to do a correct restoration, and would like the factory look on the tires as well. If anyone has any pictures, I would appreciate it too.

thanks!

I dont think there was a standard tire. The different plants used different tire lines, as long as the load rating was proper for what truck was being produced(c10,c20,c30, k series). Maybe someone else can chime in on this. What kind of wheel do you currently have? I assume the stock 6 lug 15x5.5 with the 3 raised bumps for a hubcap? Different sizes were availible for the C10.

ok, all the info,

1966 c10, 15 inch, 5 lug wheels with 4 "bumps" for hubcaps, fully optioned truck with deluxe trim package and factory air, so I am assuming it had chrome dog dish hubcaps on it (they are gone). the wheels are painted the same as the body.

Probably had thin? or wide? whitewalls too? right?

Would have been 6 lug from the factory. 5 lug wasn't until I believe 1971

Re: 1966 factory tires? what brand??

According to the tire literature in my dealer ordering book "1966 Chevrolet truck data book" GM used any of the major tire companies that year. US Royal, Goodyear, BF Goodrich, Firestone and Uniroyal. I bought two nos original 1966 era Firestone Deluxe Champions with 3/4 " whitewall with the pie crust edge in the optional tire size of 8.15 X 15 for the spare tire locations on two of my trucks. Perfect for an in bed spare tire show case. I could have bought a set of 5 from this guy but I'm not interested in 48 year old tires on the driving wheels of my trucks. The standard size was 7.75 X 15 and there are a lot of reproductions for this size, not so much for the 8.15 X 15. You could also have a 16" tire with the 6 lug rim but not sure of hand of that size tire.
