Re: rochester carb rebuilding??

If your getting the 17 dollar kit, most likely you are not going to get the float.

Re: rochester carb rebuilding??

I've been at this for over 50 years and rebuilt a couple hundred various carburetors and never once got any kit with a float in it. You might get one from one of the specialty vendors but not through regular sources.
Midgets50 most likely you have the carb that takes Kit #4 and float #5.
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/ca/full.aspx?Page=84

Chevs of the 40's
https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail...Rochester.html
Float
https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail...Rochester.html

This is pretty interesting as it shows carb numbers but his kit is rather spendy by comparison. http://www.carburetion.com/Kits/chevy.htm They also show less expensive kits and floats though. Put your carb number in their search and you should find some info.

Asking for the kit by Carb number at Napa, O'reilly's or Carquest should help narrow things down too. If there is an older independent parts house in the area check there as usually they use the books rather than rely on the computer and while the part may not be in the computer it is most likely in the paper catalog.

Re: rochester carb rebuilding??

Standard Hygrade kit for a 216 Rochester RP is 123a. The kit will work for a 235 RP also but the base plate gasket is different.

Re: rochester carb rebuilding??

Putting the 123A from Greser50's post in the www.naponline.com search and clicking the interchange box brings up these kits.
http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...23A_0365604990

http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...158_0364850163

The MPF312A_036504990 appears to have a good assortment of gaskets for multiple applications even though it is their "discount" kit.

That is where I bought mine. No problems at all.

Re: rochester carb rebuilding??

The best kits I've gotten have been from Mike's Carburetor parts.

http://www.carburetor-parts.com/B-BC...rts_c_146.html

One of the other reasons I support him is he's put together a number of very helpful videos. Not everybody needs these but I've found them very, very useful. Link the Robchester B videos is below.

Cheers!
