1972/1966
I have a 1966 Chevrolet C10 and 1972 GMC donor truck that I am going to use the motor, trans, power steering, front end and rear end and install it in the 66.
The rear end on the 66 has coil springs and the GMC has leaf springs on it. Does anyone know if there is anywhere I can find the coil spring mounts somewhere or will I need to cut and weld off the old rear end? Also I was told that the splindles and calipers on the 1972 will fit the 1966 with the hubs and drums with no problem. Any information on this will be very helpful. |

Re: 1972/1966
here ya go trailing arm mounts http://www.classicparts.com/1960-72-.../#.UfSLTazp7Fw coil springs should be on the trailing arms on the 66, this should be all u need and the 72 spindles should bolt right on.if i remember correctly, maybe some else will chime in.

Re: 1972/1966
I did almost the exact thing, mine is a '63 and my donor was a '72. I took the whole front k member including power steering hoses pump and linkage. (I needed Captain Fabs bracket for the steering box), motor and auto tranny. all in all a pretty easy swap. I had to move my tranny cross member and make up a new drive shaft a weekend later I had Power steering, disc brakes, sway bar, automatic, tilt wheel and a posi rear end.
