What have you used?
I was thinking 99-2006 Chevy truck with integrated seat belts.

I just bought an 89 Chevy truck bench seat for mine. I plan on using the 55-59 seat brackets with this bench seat.

I used 99 Silverado seats without the belt and they fit, even with a small console. If you remove the head rests, the seat back doesn't protrude into the rear window which I hate.

did you remove the belts or was it an early 99 that was a carryover from year before

I am currently looking for a similar seat for my 57'. Do you have a picture of your seat? I want to know what they look like so I know what to keep an eye out for. Do all of the benches from this era have headrests? Thanks!

I am not sure if they all have headrests, I will be removing mine.

I'm doing the same thing on a 56. Bought the seats & console about 2 years ago out of a 97 Suburban. The only thing I can see is that they might be a tad to low. I'm getting ready to jerk the bench seat out today. I'm about 5'8, so may need to raise them about an inch or so. I'll send some pics if I get em out today.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but the console I got from the 99 Silverado was too wide to fit with the seats. Don't know if they're the same as the Sub. As far a ht., you have to build/modify the seat brackets to fit well in the tri 5. I built mine as low as possible because of the chop but you can adjust your ht. as you build.

The console I have is pretty narrow compared to the pickup consoles, at least mine is. Looks like I'm limited to raising the drivers seat very much as the steering wheel might hit my legs.

2007 and newer suburban or tahoe (or the cadillac equivalent) 3rd row seat fits well, has built in belts, and looks very nice. Might want to do a search - someone on here has a set in their truck. If I hadn't already bought a pair of 2002 silverado buckets with belts I would go with the 3rd row ones.

I used 07 Yukon third row and made a frame so they tilt and snap out like the Yukon setup.

Hey folks!

I bought an early 90's bench seat not too long ago. I am pretty tall (6'4") and find myself ducking down to see out of the door window when driving. This is currently how it is with the 57' stock bench. I want my new 90's chevy seat to basically sit so that the rear seat back is at the bottom edge of the back window. Since I have a large wrap around rear window, you can see the seat back springs & stuffing on the stock 57' seat. I have heard of guys chopping the seat frame down 1"-2" using the early 90's chevy bench seats.........anyone on the board done this before? I'd sure like to see pics or have an explanation of how it was done.

i have a late 90s split bench seat and the big bk window also . the frames were way to tall about 7inchs so that didnt work out so well
what i did find was the late 90s chevy astro vans had very similar seat brackets with the same hole pattern and they measure up at only 3 inches - those i am using and the fit well and lower my seat enough to where its comfortable - i am 6 ft and have no trouble in the seat - maybe that can work for you - best part about it is no cutting or welding needed .

both sets were from the front seats
my first set that i am using are from a 99 chevy trailblazer .
second set - only using the seat brackets came from a late 90's astro van

For buckets, I used a set of 1986 Buick Somerset Regal buckets, and they are "short" and only the tops of my seats are visible through the wrap-around window. I had to make the seat brackets, but used 2" square tubing for the mounts, and the seats bolted right to the tubing. it looks ok, but I would like to redo the mounts so they are stronger. The problem I have is that I am not sure in a major accident that the seat frames might collapse.

is there any way you can add gussets to the seat frame ? or does frame lay right on the floor . if you can weld in some type of gusset that shoul be able to strengthen it enough so so dont have that worry ---just sayin ;

That bit of information really helps! I had no idea that the seat frames were similar between the truck benches and vans from the 90's. I will take a look at the wrecking yard soon and see if I can find one. I am a little confused on one thing..........I thought all Astro vans had buckets up front? How do individual bucket seat frames work with a pickup bench frame? Maybe you can explain a little more. Thanks!

Astros do have buckets - you can take apart the seat frame and possibly use a third frame or just one of the other pair to make it all work; the frame has a piece that connects the 2 together - it unbolts . you can prolly find a beat up old bench seat that has all the other parts you may need to put a final one together
i dont know if this makes any sense but check out the yards . take picts & measurments , hopefully you can make it work - holla if ya cant and i will do my best to help you.

My truck is a 57' and the bench seat donor is a 1991 Chevy Silverado.

I made tubes lay on the front of the floor rib and the rear rib. Side tubes also for the seats to sit on. That way, it was side tubes taking the weight with the front and rear tubes anchoring the seat to the inside loop of original bolt holes. It was to space the seats up so a short guy like me could look out the windows. HA!
And also I would not have to add any holes to the floor.
The seat frames have flat surfaces so I did not have to modify them. I guess adding gussets would make them stronger, but I used thin wall tubing so they didn't look so improvised.
