Epoxy primer

Could someone give me a pt no for DuPont epoxy primer? 33430S was given to me by a friend but I don't think that is the right stuff. It's been along time since I done any body work and everything has changed, and gone up.

You should check into SPI epoxy.

Every one who uses it likes it and it's supposed to be a better value than Dupont.
It's what I'm going to use on mine.
Around $200.00 for two gallons mixed.

I went with a 1 gallon kit from Pro Form and it was $180. It's a really decent product at a very good price. Check out Tcp Global's website or eBay store

The Ky Motor's store around here handles Dupont and Nation. I was wanting to stay with the same brand through out the build if I can. They deliver to me, so that helps. The only other place's we got are O Riley's, Napa, Autozone, and Advance auto parts. Not real good choices. I'll check into those if I can't find what I want, thanks.

SPI is $86.10 per gallon (2 gal must be purchased). Free shipping too.

Look at the Dupont Nason line. I used the Nason etch prime, primer/filler, sealer and base, then Chromacolor Clear for the interior. All dupont materials are compatible across all lines. I have looked at some of the cheaper online alternatives and if you were just painting and flipping they would probably be ok but I plan on using the truck as a DD and do not want to be redoing the finish every 5 years.

SPI is not in that category. Best of the best.

I used the SW Genisis primer this weekend and man did it go on well. Stuff is very spendy but the guy at the paint shop said it was the best.

On a side note has anyone sprayed epoxy on twice? Once then block sand, and then spray it again before high build. I have about half a gallon left and thought i might use it again if it offers any benefit.

Typically you really don't use epoxy in place of a high fill primer. Epoxy is used for corrosion protection. For build you use a 2k primer or if you need really high build you can use a polyester primer such as featherfill, slick sand, or PCL poly primer. I know there are high fill primers out their that claim to also be epoxy primers but I'm not talking about those. I'm talking purely epoxy primers. Yes you can sand some epoxy primers but I move to 2k for build and then I start my block sanding.

Now there is a window usually 7 days that you can spray epoxy with no sanding. If after 7 days just scuff the primer with a red scotch bite pad, clean and shoot another coat of epoxy. Spray your 2k and start your blocking.

BTW, I also use SPI epoxy primer and it is great stuff.
