'66 Power Brake project with "Offset Air Cleaner"

OK, I learned that when you go to a power booster such as a stock '67 that your original air cleaner won't fit any longer. I had a few good folks here on the forum suggest the '67 and up "offset air cleaner" for a more stock look.

I went to the salvage yard today and after going through the whole yard I ran across a '67 or '68 Box truck that still had the original 250 six cylinder. To my surprise the offset air cleaner and all the mounting hardware was still there. Now this one does not have the Snorkel like all the ones I saw pics. of. The top is just offset on one side and it draws in air under that lip. I think this will work? I see no need for the pipe that goes from the carb adapter ring to the valve cover. My '66 does not have that hole. I assume that is part of emissions? Can I just get rid of it and seal that hole up in the carb ring? What do you guys think, find one with a snorkel or use this one? This one is rusty but it is solid.

Thanks,
Michael

I believe an air cleaner is to the motor what wheels are to the truck. The right look can make the difference between ho-hum or way cool. Congrats, you nailed it.

Welcome and congrats on finding what you needed. It's OK to plug the hole up.

I see no reason that won't work. If you eliminate the hose from the valve cover to the air cleaner riser, you will need some other type of breather in the valve cover. Your crankcase needs to breathe.
