Brake Kit Question
I have a 69 C10 that in doing frame off with. What would be the best/most reasonable vendor to use. I love Wilwood but not there price. Mcgaughty seems good also but I have just heard about another vendor called ABS Power Brake. Does anyone have any suggestions???
-frame off starting from scratch -porterbuilt drobmember -ridetech front suspension P.S. Im going for the everyday driver but still be able to take it to shows and turn some heads. |

Best vendors for these trucks are GMCPaul and Wes (Classicheartbeat). If you are looking for reasonable (translation: cheap) Porterbuilt should not even be on your radar. Very high quality stuff, but if you down have the budget for it don't kid yourself.

I plan on Porterbuilt suspension. I'm ready to bite the bullet on their prices. Am just looking for opinions on brake systems other than Wilwood. Or should I just bite the bullet on that too?

If you have the money to spend and want the higher end stuff, then go for it. A lot of people that buy from Wildwood are impressed with the stopping power and quality. At least from what I've read.
As for me, I just buy from local vendors. Can't afford the high priced stuff and the truck is just an occasional driver.

I got most everything for mine from our local CARQUEST. It took the guy some searching through old catalogs, but he was able to find every little spring and part. It all came in American made boxes, too.

You can find brake kits from places like McGaughy's, CPP and ECE. Places like Wilwood SSBC and Baer are more of a performance brake option, but they can be expensive. They have very good quality stuff, but you'll pay for it.

I installed factory front discs from a 72 and a rear disc kit from Captainfab here on the forum that uses Camaro rear calipers and I don't think the truck could stop any better. Very reasonable also......
