Replaced my ac and here is my parts list
A week and a half ago I replaced my ac. I have a 1987 Silverado 4x4 that originally had ac. It was all there, just the evaporator, hoses, and compressor were leaking and just shot. I replaced everything under the hood and found a drop in parallel flow condenser. I pulled the vacuum with the harbor freight air pump and got 28 to 29 inches of vacuum. I then rented the pump from autozone but it would only pull 22. I decided the harbor freight pump was good enough and went from there.
In Midland Texas it blows 53 degrees while cruising around town and 60 while idling. Not the best, but better than nothing. I think adding some pusher fans would help. I used r134a I did direct replacement parts because I didn't want to have to mess with finding the right belts and brackets for aftermarket parts. The only part I did not replace was the short piece of tubing with the high pressure side port on it. I flushed it with acetone. Anyway I put this parts list together for anyone who might be attempting the same thing. I've never done a project this big so I was pretty pumped when it worked lol. I've replaced starters, radiators, alternators ect but this was the biggest vehicle project I've done. I'm having a 383 built as we speak for my 75 vette and I will be adding ac to it after this. oil http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...keyword=pag+46 low side r134a port http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...r134a+fittings high side port http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...r134a+fittings hoses http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/se...4WD&vi=1300868 orifice tube http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...2728&ppt=C0328 evaporator http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...2684&ppt=C0355 compressor http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...2645&ppt=C0354 condenser http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk.../SPI73642.html |

Re: Replaced my ac and here is my parts list
I'd check to make sure you added the correct amount of refrigerant because I had a converted system on my '86 and was at 46 degrees at the center vent on 134a, where it had pulled 43 degrees on R12 prior.
