needing help with wiring a column
i've got a 1964 but i put a 1969 column in it & I need to know what wire to hook into the old plug since it want hook right back up ........ have any of you guy's changed column's and ran into the problem ?

The wire colors should be the same.
But if you do not want to cut and splice wires, you can get and adapter harness connector that will mate the flat plug in fro the '69 column to the semi circle of the '64 here's the breakdown: On the 1969 column: White from brake light switch to column yellow left rear turn/stop lamp green right rear turn/stop lamp dk blue right front turn lamp lt blue left front turn lamp black horn(grounds relay) purple 12v+ from turn signal flasher to t/s switch brown 12V+ from hazard flasher to t/s switch(you will have to add a flasher for this to work) Should be the same on the '64 column with the exception of the brown hazard flasher wire. |

I got some of them working but it's not right
64 wires dark blue Lt blue green yellow white black purple ----------------------------------------------- 68 column not 69 purple black Lt blue line black yellow line brown green yellow line black white line blue i can get the tall light's to come on & when you hit the brakes the light want light up like it should in the back BUT when i turn the head light switch off the brakes light up ?????????????? X2 the most important thing you can do is make sure the tail lights are grounded good.
Try adding a 10 ga wire from the frame to the rear cross sill of the bed. You may have to remove the light assemblies and add a ground wire directly to them and then connect them to the frame, as well. |

Thank's guy's it was the Ground & the tail light the didn't match one was grounding the other out plus after looking at that picture i had to lower it more
