Hey Guys n Gals,

I just installed my air ride setup. Front - 2 1/2 drop spindles, 2600lbs bags.. Rear - 2600lbs bags, viair comressors, Accuair control.

I wanted some advice on what shocks I should use ? thanks in advance

I ran no shocks on a bagged setup before, trust me thats not the way to go.

Nitro drop shocks are the "Generic" answer for most lowered vehicles, since they make a million sizes and they aren't that expensive. You don't really need to spend big money on an adjustable shock, since the bag effectively changes the dampening and "rate" in itself.

I second Br3w City comments with the following caveats:

measure the travel of your suspension, and try and put the shock in so it has just a bit more travel when fully aired out, I know lots of guys who laid the truck out on a cruise and bent a shock or broke a mount because they hit a bump. A good auto parts store will let you measure a bunch of shocks.

get a gas charged shock, airbags have more oscillation than a metal spring and a standard shock will be foamed and useless in a very short time. Monroe makes a great rear shock, monroe MON31000 shocks for $30 a pair. They are 12" compressed and 19.5" extended, about 8" of travel, part number is 94008. They would work up front too if that meets your length between shock mounts when laid out.

it will kinda limit your selection on the front of these trucks.

I'm static about 5" and I have to run around a 10" shock, it gets hard to find anything smaller than that. It still extends to 13+ which works fine, but anytime you get less than about 9.5" shock length bottomed out, you get put into the expensive brands pretty much no matter what.
