Heater core Hoses go where? <> top/bottom

I pulled the heater core on my 79’ K-30 w/AC some time back. Now that I did not take any Pick’s which hose goes where..........

top hose goes to rad. or water pump, bottom hose goes to intake

You want it to flow up so it will blow out any air bubbles

Another way to tell is that the inlet and outlet are different sizes: one is 5/8" and the other is 3/4". Match the heater core to the corresponding size nipples on engine/water pump/radiator and you're set.

If only life would remain this simple


The P/O has upgraded both hose’s & fittings to match ¾” .
Not sure the gain here, if any ?
