Unfortunately yes, looks like the dash was hacked...not factory A/C....here's a factory A/C cab my dad acquired earlier this year:

Time to make lemonade! Why not fab up something similar to the factory air panel to cover the hole above your radio and run two (or three) vents out of it? You could also install an LED screen in the hole, or this trick tire pressure monitoring display (see link below).

The pix Phillip posted ARE a factory AC truck, yours could be a dealer installed ac, but you probably will never know for sure. Factory ac trucks are extremely rare and mostly the high end ones too from my experience, most folks bought our trucks for trucks not pretty rides back then.

Re: Is my 65 a factory A/C truck

Peek your head under the passenger side of the dash (about in line with the glove box door) and look at the firewall. If you have an A/C-specific heater core box, you will see a control cable attached to a flapper door. It corresponds to the semi-rectangular hole shown in the firewall pictures that likaroc13 posted. There is a possibility that you might have a dealer-installed A/C system. If so, you should have a panel to the right of the radio with some pull knobs. The early ('64) dealer-retrofit trucks often have 2 pull knobs, where the factory installed A/C trucks have 3 pull knobs. My '64 truck's A/C system was installed at the dealer, and the holes they cut weren't too pretty. I spent a lot of time making them presentable.

Re: Is my 65 a factory A/C truck

It is not, if it was the panel next to the ashtray would have 3 holes in it and it doesn't.
