Talking New to the forum

I am a new member to the forum. I have been on the site "lurkin" for quite awhile. Looks like some real good information and great members! I have a 1966 C-10 SWB that was passed down from my father when he passed away a few years ago. Now I have some time to dedicate to the rebuild. I loved the truck as much as he did, and hopefully I can bring the truck back to it's glory days again. I have soooo many questions on thingss that need to be done. I'm jumping in head first!

Re: New to the forum

Welcome to the site. First priority suggestion, if you don't already own one pick up a digital camera and start taking tons of photos, before you touch anything. All too often a project takes off and loads of progress photos are taken, and when it's finished there aren't any "before" pictures. Also many detail shots can provide clues on how to put things back together, which type of bolts went where, how many shims went in which location, etc.

And you can't post too many pictures in your build thread. Visual updates keep others involved and interested in your progress.

Re: New to the forum

If you want to upload directly from your computer, once you have typed in your text, scroll down to where it says "Manage Attachments" and click on that. Then in that window, click on "Browse" and find the pics you want on your computer. Then once you pick one, click on "Upload". Unfortunately with the new server, you have to upload one pic at a time.

If you wish to post a pic that you have already uploaded to a pic hosting site such as Photobucket, Imageshack, etc. just click on this icon and then paste the URL of the image you want from your hosting site. The one advantage of posting pics this way, is that you can place the pics where you want them within your post, and include a caption or description with each pic.

Re: New to the forum

Thank you guys!!! Here is my 66' C10 SWB. It's a 327 with powerglide. It has a 25 year old partial restoration, really just a paint job and seat! It's been in the family for about 25 years. Hoping to get started on the frame soon so I can get the suspension started. The truck was left to me from my father that passed away a few years ago. It was sitting for about 5 years before I got it. I had to do quite a bit to get it up and running. I had electrical issues, no brakes, and everything leaked. I can now drive it, but am scared to death of that single master cylinder brakes and no e-brake. I'm headed the resto mod way. Big wheels, brakes, and a slight static drop of 3"/4". I need a new column, and would like a tilt wheel. Flameing river and ididit is too much cash. Can anyone recomend a universal one that has had good success? I am fairly mechanically inclined, so am willing to make it work.

Re: New to the forum

Great looking truck....thanks for posting a pic. Single master will get you by fine, just be gentle with it and make sure the lines are bled good and the brakes are adjusted properly. You can easily convert to a dual and split the lines also.

Welcome! I'm in the process of a frame off on my Father's old 66 shortbed. He sold it when I was a little kid and I eventually got it back.

Re: New to the forum

Welcome! Looks like a great truck to work with. As others mentioned, it's also great to have that family history. Sounds like you have some good plans for it. My '66 currently has a 327/Powerglide as well. Good luck, & have fun with it!

Re: New to the forum

Nice picture of your truck with the lake background. I have a single master, but replaced all lines, hoses, cylinders and I have a good e brake. You should still be able to get the repair parts for your ebrake so you can enjoy the ride. I saw some other posts of recycled tilt wheels being used. Search the group for tilt wheel. Karooz
