Alternator wiring differences
I am putting a 5.3 4l60e from a 2005 in my 68. I got the harness from PSI and the alternator is the original from the 2005. The psi alternator connector is 4 pin and only has 1 wire going to it. My alternator is only a 2 pin and has 2 wires going to it. I found in the wiring diagram for a 2005 that it looks like the alternator is duty cycle controlled. Do I just need to buy an alternator for an earlier truck? or try to rewire what I have some way? Thanks for all the info on the site.

Re: Alternator wiring differences
I re pinned mine at the computer per lt1 swap. I used a 2006 ls with the same duty cycle alt. Been driving the truck for a while now with no problems. This is a good question wonder what year would be compatible? I would think it still needs to be re pinned for a non duty cycle alt. to prevent the comp. to try controlling something that's not controllable. Maybe some one else can give a word of wisdom.

Re: Alternator wiring differences
Just got an email from psi that made my harness. They say I will have to add a wire from the alternator back to the pcm to make my 2 pin alternator operate correctly. Or I can replace the alternator with the earlier year 4 pin alternator and use the wiring as it is.
