Oorah brother.

Nice truck, similar to what I'd like to do with mine, I'll stay tuned with this build.

Good luck to you.

I came here after you left, but welcome back. I know about the low point in life, it sucks. Bought my truck in the middle of all that. Thought about calling her "Therapy" because that's what it was like working on it. Glad you made it through and found a new cool project, it looks like it's going to be great.

Re: I'm back, 3 years was too long, Back with 65 shop truck

Ok guys. Been a while since I updated. Been busy working on the truck and spending time with the family. I also broke my elbow on New years.. Ugh. But I just got the truck back from my interior guy. And a buddy built a full floating wood bed and the center section lifts up to allow access to my bags and tank in case of any repairs. Enjoy the photos.

Seat and door panels came out GREAT!
What size tires are you running? With it aired out, they must touch the inner fenders?

I am running 215/70/15. No rubbing at all. My only complaint is it has 3.73 gears so with these little tires at 60mph I am turning way to many R's. But I usually drive around town so I can deal.

Re: I'm back, 3 years was too long, Back with 65 shop truck

Heads up fellas...I know this is a little part and cheap, but I am trying to find used to match the rest of the truck. Need the brake pedal rubber pad. I am also looking for the little "eye" style bolt that bolts on the frame that the e-brake cable runs through. I had a broken one and cant use the e-brake. Again trying to keep it all era correct. Also looking or a good 63 grill.

Re: I'm back, 3 years was too long, Back with 65 shop truck

Alright boys, been a while since I updated. I recently dropped a valve in my 307. Come to find out the cam was flat from getting rid of the lifter tick. So we did a new RV cam and had the heads rebuilt. All new top end and harmonic balancer. When we tore the motor apart the bottom end looked awesome. Its been punched .40 over. We measured cylinder size and figured out its about 313 cubic inches now with a fresh top end. Not quite a 327 2bbl but close. It runs absolutely amazing. My old timer buddy up the street helped me do all the work. He is a huge fan of original points ignition and has the old school Montgomery Wards Dwell Meter to set them perfectly. We got the timing and dwell spot on in this thing. It runs perfect with out a glitch. And with a mild cam and dual flowmasters it sounds awesome. Its a perfect daily driver. We are getting ready to paint the roof white along with the grill surround. I am doing the headlight relay upgrade when the grill comes off. A hidden stereo is coming soon few more minor touches. Its pretty much done.. Hope you guys like. I will post pics soon of the new roof and grill surround.

I recently showed it in the Portland Roadster show and the had it out for the local Eighty Six'ed art show. Both had a great response. LOoking forward to long hot summer of rolling deep.

I hope you broke that new cam in properly and with a good breakin additive. Of course you will also need to run a oil with plenty of ZDDP or use typical off the shelf oil with a ZDDP additive. Otherwise that new cam will be going flat.

I am gonna try and not be disrespected by this. Give me a little credit. I have been at this game for 20 years and the dude who does my motor work has been building motors for 40 years. So yes we use the correct break in additive and the I ONLY use oil with ZDDP in it.

The motor we repaired came to me with flat cam already in it. And yes it broke in just fine and has many miles on it already and runs like a champ. Agian, this is not my first cam break in and I am sure it wont be my last.

No disrespect was intended at all. I have no way of knowing that you have been at this game for 20 years. I was just trying to make sure that you were aware of the flat tappet cam/ oil issues so that you don't have a problem. I have also know a couple 'old timers' that refuse admit that they can't just keep doing things the way they used to.

Sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way, it was not my intention.
