55-59 custom tail lights help
I am looking for stock type taillights that are to be located in the stock location on the 55-59 stepside. I am looking for something that is nice; custom; high tech look, and does not have the standard Phillips screws holding on the lens. If the mounting type is changed, that is Ok as well.
What have you guys seen or what do you know? Cant find much other than stock. I am open to any light that is round, and from 3 to 4" in diameter. Motorcycle lights are OK as well. Anything cool. Thanks for your help. |

Re: 55-59 custom tail lights help
What if you were to take something on the line of a fog or driving light like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/UPI-C364008-...8b2f97&vxp=mtr
and replace the bulb with an led or regular 4 inch round stop/tail light bulb like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/131014511064...84.m1423.l2649 or these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chrome-Round...ac1035&vxp=mtr A 4 inch led bulb with the rubber grommet might fit in one of these. http://www.ebay.com/itm/EMGO-4-1-2-m...7f745f&vxp=mtr There is a local chrome doodad for semi trucks shop here in town that has tons of killer lights, I'll stop there tomorrow and see what they have if i remember.

I like what Ironworks has on a couple of their trucks. These are beautiful. Wonder what they are?

They are works of art. The price is beyond what I can spend ($519-$1239). On to the next thing. Any ideas? |

Speaking strictly for myself, that price of $519-$1200+ is the "idiot price". I wouldn't pay that even if I had it. It strikes me like a $200 hamburger. I'm sure there's a $30-$40 hamburger I'd consider trying at Tavern on the Green, or some such waay high end restaurant while on vacation and once in my life. But a $200 one? Uh....no. That's just gouging to see how big a fool I'll let myself be.

Re: 55-59 custom tail lights help
Needed a nice pair of rear fenders for my 56 and found these that the seller said came off a 65 truck. Doing a little research I found that the lights are optional dealer installed backup lights. Thinking I might try to find some Red lenses that fit and use these as my tail lights. 59 Caddy lights maybe ? I like custom stuff but I prefer to use parts that might have been available back in the day rather than modern stuff. Going this route I can also do away with the hokey factory tail lights that stick out from the sides of the bed and look like something that belongs on a boat trailer.
