Holy Broken Springs Batman!
Pulled these rear springs out of my truck today. This was the last time my truck was driven by my father hauling "birds". I wish now they were as light as real fluffy birds. Even 3/4 ton springs don't stand a chance when grossly overloaded. This is the result of 120 cases of "AA" clay pigeons at 35 pounds per case. Start working that math for a 1/2 ton truck!
It would explain the cause of the truck "shedding" all four hub caps while rolling on flat road and the heavy duty clutch starting to slip. Proof positive they made these truck tough. 88Ironduke

Wow. Honestly, as overloaded as I've seen my dad load up his (now my) truck, I'm surprised he didn't burst a spring.
Have you gotten replacements yet? |

At least the rear are kinda easy to change and not too expensive. Look at the bright side.
I have had a few loads on my truck, bed filled with wet dirt up to the cab roof, 2500 lbs of transformers. 1500 lbs of paper prods, wood, and so on. Do leaf springs hold up better than coils or have I just been lucky? Don't want to hijack thread...
