Backfire through exhaust

SO FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW!!
Have done a lot of work, ready to go for a drive, and the temp was high. Got that straightened out, and took it out today for a drive.
Engine is backfiring through the exhaust whenever I give it some gas and get above an idle. It will idle all day long and not backfire. I have done a search and done some reading on what to check, so not really asking for help, YET.
It was running just fine, temp was just fine, I didn't do anything to the engine, and now I am having issues. I really hope that I didn't get a flat cam lobe or something serious, since it didn't run for quite a while.
Too frustrated to do anything else today, gonna start looking at plug wires and exhaust leaks and other stuff tomorrow. I have a new Edelbrock 1406 that I have not adjusted at all yet. But again, it ran in the past just fine with this and I haven't touched anything. AARRRGGH!!
