How do you install Door and window regulators for a 62 Chevy ?

Hey I was just seeing if anyone out there knows how to install door regulators without having to break the glass? The reason I say this is I've looked at what I have to do and it seems the only way to get them in is breaking the glass is this true or is there a way to take the glass out before u install the regulators?

Glass will come out through the top. I haven't gotten to this stage yet, but have removed one in a parts truck. The window fuzzies will come out, door panel off and then it'll come out through the top opening.

my doors don't have the outer door weather stripping? it's a 61. was this on all years of the early door style?

I have a 61 door thats going on my 63. Let me check tomorrow and I can tell you if it has the weatherstrip on it. My 63 does have them.

Actually the information from the service manual is from the 1960 Chevy Truck Shop Manual.

Ahh...my mistake. They used the same pics in the 63 book. 61K10, maybe the PO took them out?

1963c-10-----i have 4 different doors, 2 org. and 2 donor. one had a no metal window frame and none had this weather stripping. the one without the metal frame was repainted though. is this the same as the cab weather/s. if so is the kits long enough to add this to the door? is it to keep water out? has anybody installed it?

The glass w/the metal frame requires a different weather seal kit than the non-framed glass does. Doesn't matter which style you use (metal framed/non-metal framed), either will work in any 60-63 door. Just be sure to get the proper kit for which glass you use. I believe the only purpose of the weatherstrip behind the door panel was just to seal out any drafts. I cant imagine any water coming in or out the way the door is designed. Again..i think its just to keep drafts out.

At the bottom of the window are 3 screws holding bottom to regulator. Hold glass at height to reach these, take them out and slide regulator side to side to get rollers from track.

doesn't the regular w/s seal the door? I understand about the window difference.

Thank You Once Again. Do You Happen To Know The Order I Put the parts Back In? I was Going To Start with The Ventilator (Windwing) First But After Reading Your Posts It Seems The Window Goes in At The Same Time As the Ventilator. I Have A Spare Door And Parts I Have Been Practicing on But It Seems Like I Am Going To Scratch The New Paint!

I had my vents in first turned them sideways then put glass in. I had the rollers up far enough to set glass on temporary the reposion the vent. Put glass in channel then work it onto the rollers. Tape will help from scratches. You might want to spread door opening to get vent in without scratches.
