I was wondering what all is needed to swap intakes from the truck style to that of the flat car type? Any advantages or disadvantages? Thank you

Re: putting LS car intake on a truck motor
All accessories from the car motor will have to be swapped as well as mounts of said accessories. Looks is about it for advantages. The truck intake makes more torque.
Hope this helps.

Re: putting LS car intake on a truck motor
If you are running truck accessories then dirty dingo has an idler relocator bracket.

Re: putting LS car intake on a truck motor
I'm actually running an LS3 intake(car intake) and I'm running truck brackets, but I did have to order a pulley relocator off ebay though.

Re: putting LS car intake on a truck motor
In my 81 I was not able to fit the alternator with the LS1 car style set up, so I used the truck brackets with the Dirty Dingo idler relocation bracket, L92 water pump, and LS1 intake. Worked out well.

Re: putting LS car intake on a truck motor
Did you swap out the newer Camaro water pump to make this all fit?

Re: putting LS car intake on a truck motor
No. The camaro pump pulley has a different offset from the block. You COULD use that pump if you swap a truck pulley on it.
These accessories are off of an L92 truck, so the upper water pump neck angles a bit differently than the earlier truck pumps.

I think the other guy was referring to the gen5 Camaro water pump, in which case you don't need to swap pullies, since the spacing on them is the same as a truck. Just trying to clear things up a bit.

Re: putting LS car intake on a truck motor
This is interesting, do you have any pics of it out of the car? How much belt wrap do you have on the crank?

Re: putting LS car intake on a truck motor
I actually ran a 02 GTO water pump and just backed the pulley off a bit with my puller...it's been working great for over 10,000 miles.

Re: putting LS car intake on a truck motor
Thanks guys, I had understood the gen 5 camaro pulleys could be used with the truck accessories and the offset was the same as the truck stuff making it an easier swap. I had toyed swaping to a "car" intake but it would only be for looks my truck one is doing just fine.
