c20 to c10

might be a thread already, but have a 64 c20, got 1963 c10 rear end to swap find some parts are different between these years ,from wheel cylinders to shoes wondering if anyone has done this or know difference,any help greatly appiecatied.

The C20 will likely have the Eaton HO52/72 and the '63 C10 differential will be the truck 12 bolt. Two completely different differentials, hence parts do not interchange. The wheel cylinders, shoes, drums, etc. from a '63-'70 truck 12 bolt will all interchange.

yea i meant between 1964 12 bolt to 1963 12 bolt, i saw different part numbers thru lmc catalog,early and late design wheel cylinders, and shoes

Don't scrap the 8 lug stuff. I will come over and get it and store it for a future project.

are some of these parts different because of self adjusting brakes came out in 64?

The self adjusting brakes didn't come out until '66.

It has been a long time since I have done anything to a '63 12 bolt, so it is possible that the original wheel cylinders and shoes are different than what is used on a '64+. But I wouldn't be surprised if all the the '64+ brake parts will work just fine on the '63 12 bolt. Just go down to your local auto parts store and pickup a wheel cylinder and see if it works.....they are fairly cheap. If it won't work take it back.

found good info in F.A.Qs on adding self adjusters to earlier truck i.e 62-63 with part numbers and step by step instuctions
