"Pro Street" rebuild

A friend found this truck, fell in love with it and bought it. The add said it had a 400 sbc and this that and the other. My buddy is not very good mechanically. Turns out it had a 282 and stock turbo 350. So after hunting down and having a 400 sbc and a turbo 400 built for it he wanted to paint it. So I tore it down. Rear suspension will get hacked off and fixed with a Caltracs set up. The 10 bolt does have strange axles in it and a decent center section so it should take the 600Hp the small block is supposed to make. the body is off to media blast and primer. We have a couple of different things we are going to do. I hope it all turns out ok.

Nice start. Looks like you have some good plans for it!

Re: "Pro Street" rebuild

what are the rear leaf springs and hangers off of ? Also could you show a side shot of the rear leaf spring hangers & springs. If you are selling them I would be interested if they are bolted in. Thanks

Welcome to the forum

This should be an interesting build. Looks like this truck is a little 'small' compared to what you normally work on.

Too bad someone removed the trailing arms and coils. That would have saved you some work on the rear suspension.

Do you have any pics of the tin work in the bed?

Re: "Pro Street" rebuild

It's a good change of pace from the Pete's and kenworths we are used to. But it's all just nuts, bolt and fun.

With a 600 horse small block and a small shot nitrous, I'm not sure how well the stock geometry would work. But then again I've never played with it so I don't know.

There are a few guys over in the 'Racing and High Performance' section that are racing their trucks with the trailing arms and coils, and clocking some pretty decent times.

Timsy, here are the pictures you were looking for. Sorry I could email them.
All the hangers are welded to the frame.

Side note. This is not my work.
