75 K5 new addition to fleet

Its been a while, years, since I was on this forum last. I sold my 69 c20 Longhorn and well dissappeared.

Until last weekend I picked up a this 75 K5 for 1600 bucks. I bought it off the original owners daughter. Per her and a few other friends, it was babied.
It had some hideous 80's 15" chrome rims. So I found a set of original rally rims and cleaned them up and wrapped them in 31's. Looks amazing now! Its a very clean truck!

She sold it due to it not staying lit. I found the distributor at full advance at idle. A distributor from storage handled that.

It didn't shift with out dropping it into 2nd and back to drive. When it did shift it felt like I had been rear-ended. I found the tube to the diaphragm on the trans disconnected and it shifts fine now and idles perfectly.

For the last problem. It is real smokey on start ups and smokes when decelerating. So it needs valve stem seals. This is a Goodwrench crate engine so it has Mexican made heads, casting number 93417396 right and 93417396 left.

The Exhaust valve stem seal it just an o-ring. No umbrella no positive seal. I understand the idea behind that. The exhaust valve guide boss is not machined.

The Intake valve guide boss IS machined for a positive seal.

Is this normal? I have no problem installing o-rings on all EI and positive seals on intake valves?

I don't know about the valve stem seals, but congrats on a nice score.
