Sill plates

My truck did not come with any. Do they screw in or what? Anyone have a pic of there plates?

Yes - they screw in.

Early versions were stamped metal (aluminum, perhaps). Mine were plastic.

Thanks for the picture that is exactly what i was looking for! I put new carpet in and noticed that I didn't have and plates gonna go look for some online now.

It also seems to depend on what trim level your truck was... (or maybe even model pickup/k5/burb)

My suburban came factory with the aluminum type ones and it was a 1987...

I checked the '87 Suburban info packet in the GM Heritage Center archives and this seems to be correct.

They indicated plastic for Custom Deluxe and then aluminum (ie, "bright") for Scottsdale (Z62) and Silverado (YE9).

I'm not sure if pickup was different, since mine is a Scottsdale and came with plastic, or what year they started this breakdown.

Interesting. Thank you; I wouldn't have expected a difference between pickup and Blazer/Suburban since they were built in the same assembly plant.

The after market ones are aluminum (the ones Bluebomber polished). So that solves rust issues and good appearance in one shot

I was just wondering this the other day. Figured it was a Silverado/Scottsdale thing. The Blazer and Jimmy only ever had the metal ones and only fit Blazer & Jimmy '78-'91.

The factory metal ones were aluminum too. Although they don't rust, the aluminum ones do corrode and "rot out" when they're exposed to salt like motornut said.

Correct. Scottsdales came with the aluminum plates. Although mine were not corroded they were in pretty rough shape. IMO I like the polished aluminum look although it will be difficult to keep clean

You can let them anodize of anodize them yourself in every color you want. This way you dont have to polish every time. I actually don't know if the aftermarket ones are anodized?
