eBay : hubcaps '64-'66
EDIT : these are '66 caps... I was only going by the ad. I don't claim to know everything!
eBay item number: 251420085523 I know some of you have mentioned searching for these... happened to see them while wandering around there this morning. NOTE : the ad states they were 'restored' . -W Last edited by Woogeroo; 01-10-2014 at 07:07 AM. |

Re: eBay : hubcaps '64-'66
Is it just the camera view and lighting, or does the one on the bottom right appear to be dented in?

Re: eBay : hubcaps '64-'66
Those are 66 caps, too. See the raised ring around the center? The 64 and 65 caps don't have the raised part.
Here's a clock made from a 64/65 cap. |

Re: eBay : hubcaps '64-'66
which are more rare? the 64/65 or the 66?
I have a total of 10 painted dog dish hubcaps. They were acquired through three separate purchases. Are all 66's. Was I just lucky? |

Re: eBay : hubcaps '64-'66
I have taught Woo something. I feel like I have officially arrived! No longer a noob. Do have to admit, I only learned that info when I was doing my research while looking to buy a set of caps.
Here's my pure speculation why there might be more 66 style caps around. Caps were a popular dealer add on, and I would think that it would be reasonable to hypothesize that once the 66 cap was tooled, that was all that was available to dealer parts counters for the remainder of the 60s/70s. I managed to find a set of 64-65 caps, and I can say that the lack of the reinforcing rib makes it easy to push the center of the cap in when installing.
