My 1966 C10
Hey everyone! New to forum here. Got my 66 about 5 months ago and I love her dearly! Only thing is, the truck is colder than Antarctica here in the Nebraska winter. She has an Old Air system that just can't blow warm air in this cold. The truck is insulated on the floor, but she doesn't have a headliner yet, the door panels don't have the best insulation, and the firewall is quite leaky.
Any suggestions on a different system than the Old Air? Insulation solutions? I've also attached a picture of my 66' Thanks!! Sean Last edited by Sean C; 01-09-2014 at 02:13 PM. |

Nice truck but you will have better luck in the 60-66 section.

Re: My 1966 C10
I'm not sure about the old air systems but I do know thata factory deluxe heater provides plenty of heat for a pickup can. Sorry if this isn't helpful.

Re: My 1966 C10
Old school way would be to put cardboard in front of your radiator with a small opening to let just a little air thru to your radiator, watch your temp guage to see how big of an opening you need. This keeps most of the cold air out so your engine can maintain a normal operating temp.
P.S. Don't know anything about the old air system. Last edited by swmnboy; 01-09-2014 at 02:49 PM. Reason: added info |

Re: My 1966 C10
What condition are the door, window, and floor vent seals in?

Re: My 1966 C10
Thanks!
As far as the door, window, and floor vent seals... The driver's side door is sagging a tad, but both doors have new weather stripping. The windows are decent. They make a ton of noise, but also new weather stripping. Not totally sure on the floor vent seals |

Re: My 1966 C10
I have an OLD air and it will cook you out of the truck. Now, they only have dash and defrost vents and no floor. How old is the system if you know? Also have you looked to see if the valve to shut off the coolant flow is on or off? ( this is a huge deal in the summer to turn that flow off so the AC works well)

Re: My 1966 C10
the system and it's components can be brand new and if not hooked up properly you will not have any heat. I simple hose placement can cause this also. There was another member who just went through this. Post pictures of your hoses under the hood also, so we can look at the placement and flow. Good looking truck from that picture. we need more pictures, :-)
