1985 K10 LSX swap computer relocation
I roughed in an LSX swap in my K10 2'ish years ago and have been driving/working out the kinks. Along the way I have found that having my computer and fuse block mounted in the engine bay is unsightly and annoying. I have the truck disassembled right now for body work and want to relocate those two things inside under the dash.
After setting the inside heater box in I do not see any clean accessible options. Every place I tried was not even close to fitting the computer let alone a second fuse block with relays. I am looking for someone that has mounted at least the computer inside, under the dash. I big thanks ahead of time for any help, input and ideas. |

Re: 1985 K10 LSX swap computer relocation
I have seen where some guys mount the Computer behind the glove box, on the firewall. I havent seen anyone put a fuse block anywhere but inside the engine compartment.

Re: 1985 K10 LSX swap computer relocation
i was looking last night and decided the only option is to block off the middle floor heat opening and build a little box that goes from the trans tunnel to the dash and mount it into that. i dont have enough wire to go under/behind the seats. i will just have to make sure i can easily pull the box so i can do any maintenance on it in the future with taking the truck apart. the inside heater box takes up a lot of room and then the ductwork takes up the rest.
I thought about mounting them to the glove box but the fuse block wouldnt fit with the ductwork. tons of room everywhere else. just not in the dash. Opinions on cutting a hole in the floor and setting the computer in a sheetmetal box with a metal cover. all you would have to do is pull the carpet back a little if you ever needed to get to the computer. anyone that looks under the truck would probably notice a ~12"x8"x3" box sticking out but is that really that bad of an idea? in my head it seems like a good idea. |

Re: 1985 K10 LSX swap computer relocation
You do make a good point about mounting the computer under the floor!
I ordered my harness with the standard tail of 4 ft , now I think 6 ft would have put under the seat. I am going to look at a spot under the floor away from the exhaust
