8k Reproduction Tach

Has anyone tried using one of the 8k reproduction (factory looking) tach with an LS swap. I think I remember seeing somewhere that only the originals worked, but 5k won't do me much good since my WOT shift is set to 6500 rpm. I can't find the post now. Does anybody have any experience?

Re: 8k Reproduction Tach

are you talking about a tach to fit the center 3.x" hole?
If so, I think some have used the 2nd gen Camaro 7k?rpm tach?

Re: 8k Reproduction Tach

I've used reproduction 5k tachs in the past and they worked with no problems, so I don't see why an 8k one wouldn't work.

Re: 8k Reproduction Tach

I have the GM Sport Salvage one in my '91 Cluster. Not sure if it works yet, since the truck isn't running yet. I did have the PCM programmed for a standard tach though.

Re: 8k Reproduction Tach

Sorry for the delayed response. For some reason, my email thinks that forum messages are all of the sudden spam. Yes I'm referring to the reproduction (OE look) 8k rpm tachs available for the center hole in the cluster. Good to know that the repro 5k tachs worked. I would have sworn I read that only the originals did. I guess I may be giving it a go then.
