Simple ls wiring questions
I'm putting a 5.3/4l60e in my '54 and can't get a hold of the guy that built my harness. I'm using a haywire chassis harness and a universal ignition switch. And a lokar shifter
Couple questions: I have a wire labeled neutral safety, I don't have any connectors for the factory gear indicator on the drivers side of the trans. Where does this go? Do I need to hook the brake switch wire up to get it running? Thanks in advance.

Re: Simple ls wiring questions
It will run without those hooked up....if you're using a lokar gear indicator you can wire the neutral safety into that...the brake switch wire gets spliced into a wire on the brake switch...I did have a pic saved....

Re: Simple ls wiring questions
The gear indicator can be left unused if you want, I removed that whole section of trans harness.
I would hook up the brake wire before starting though, unless your JUST going to do a stationary start. I don't like the vehicle moving or using any trans functions without the brake switch input (plus the TAC will want the TCC functions hooked up if its dbw)

Re: Simple ls wiring questions
Well one of the wires was labeled TAC, so I kinda figured it was important lol

Re: Simple ls wiring questions
It is the DBW. Will it run without it connected? I don't have a lokar gear indicator, just the nss on the shifter

Re: Simple ls wiring questions
Yes it will run, but you may run into some issues with the trans or the dbw control without it connected. The tcc will refuse to lock/unlock without a reference from the switch. I'm not 100% WHAT the Tac looks for, but considering how sensitive DBW can be, I wouldn't be surprised if it wanted to see it connected.
Just to start and idle its not a requirement. You do need VATS etc turned off at the pcm either way.
