Alt. Bracket

I have just finished installing a 77 corvette motor in my 66 pickup and added power steering.
The alt. belt is close to the power steering pump and it rubs on the cap. So the only thing I can do is move the alt. to the Passenger side. Where can I find a bracket that will work?
Also what is the difference between the long shaft and short shaft on the water pump they look the same. I did not see any difference. When I went to my local parts house They wanted to know what I had.

Re: Alt. Bracket

Long water pump is 7 1/4" and short is 5 5/8" from engine block to where fan mounts on water pump hub. Pulleys and brackets are all different for each

Re: Alt. Bracket

The Corvette's had basically a short water pump, but the flange is 3/16" farther out from the block than a typical '55-'72 truck or '55-'68 car short pump. It is not uncommon with the short water pumps for the alt belt to be close or touch the PS pump with belt flex/bounce. I've never had a problem with it. If you're set on moving the alt to the passenger side with a short water pump, look here for the brackets.
