Sign written trucks...
Anyone sign written their ride out there? 50s trucks are hot here in the uk,usually in farm-fresh patina'd state. Folks like to signwrite them in period or rod-shop style. Not seen so many squares lettered though. I felt the urge to give my 77 an identity and chose a fictitious livery as a maintenance truck for the WSM radio station in nashville ( that I listen to every day via the online app...)
After not being totally happy with my own effort, I set out on the PC what I wanted and emailed it to a local vehicle/sign guy who brush painted it on in enamel as I felt vinyls didn't look period enough... Hope you folks out there don't think its sacrilege, and would love to see any more examples. |

Re: Sign written trucks...
Very nice!
My doors looked like this several years ago, but I have since removed the lettering. ![]()

Re: Sign written trucks...
Love it. Especially the tow truck. You obviously have a guy there handy with vinyl to get as authentic a look as that. Easy to remove too I suppose when you fancy a change. My truck will need a repaint sometime, so the brush painting of the logo will not be an issue. I just think its a bit of fun; these were built for work so why not add a bit of related character. I even organised another sign guy to make some Pan Am decals for a buddy's E series dayvan that made it look like an airport transfer bus, rather than the bland white blob that it was....... Thanks for posting the photos.
