Trans Id help
I have a 4l60e that the torque converter bolts don't line up with the flywheel. So my question is what do I have. a v6 trans?
61oshdr25193840 numbers from the tag on top of the trans

Re: Trans Id help
older style 4l60e most likely, does it have a removable bellhousing or is it casted into the case of the trans? not a huge issue to make it work but some of the older (1993-95) 4l60's dont work well with the ls pcm.

Re: Trans Id help
So will this trans work behind the 5.3 with the vette cam that I have? or do I need to just go with a different trans that came from behind a v8?

Re: Trans Id help
Sounds like a pre-300mm 4l60e (aka a pre-ls 4l60e). They make convertors that have adapted bolt patterns, but they are dumb expensive, and really going the long way around the problem. Best bet is to find an "ls" 4l60e.

Re: Trans Id help
if yours has the one piece bellhousing that doesnt have the removable access cover on the bottom, you can make it work. Need to oblong the holes in the flexplate or buy a new flexplate (6.0/4l80e non dished, uses the old 300 mm bolt pattern still)
this has some decent info, there is a master swap guide on the same site as well: http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversion...nsmission.html could you post a picture of your transmission? |
