been doing a lot of research and....
starting to feel better about the fuel delivery to my 5.3 swap, but looking at google i seen some guys doing the 5.3 swap and using regular hose and clamps on their fuel lines....does this work? i thought it would just blow off? ya know being high pressure and all....am i wrong?

You can use sections of FI rated fuel line and FI clamps. They are still a rubber line and hose clamp, but the stuff is reinforced to handle the pressure, and the clamps don't dig into the line the same way. Its still ideal to keep the rubber hose sections to a minimum. I started mine with rubber, but ended up replacing it all with braided stuff shortly after.
NHRA tracks don't like to see rubber hose, i think its less than 24" total. You'd have to cross check me on that number tho.

Oh gotcha...those an fittings freak me out some lol, I know what clamps your talking about, I think is what I'm going to do is the rubber lines til I can get it over to the guy to have these lines made up

i figured do it once and do it right, all AN and braided stainless lines on my build, its actually very easy to put together. The rubber line is alright for short distances but its very susceptible to the elements and damage from chaffing or rubbing, i'm sure it breaks down over time. Plus you would probably use 4 times as many clamps to secure it to the frame as its not very rigid.

I generally as a rule don't tell people to do it with rubber hose because its so easy to do it wrong and I don't want someone coming back and saying their truck burned up because I told them to do it that way. Look at this thread about the wrong way/old hose and you'll see my point. He used old lines, not sure how they were attached, but keep this in the back of your mind. http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversion...-disaster.html That said, my Nova has rubber fuel injection hose and fuel injection clamps in the flex points between the hardline. Double clamped on both ends and a bubble flare on the steel line to keep the hose from being able to just blow off. If you use MOSTLY steel lines, SECURE them good and bubble flare the ends of it, it will be fine. DO NOT just slide the hose on a steel line and clamp it! Also, always make sure no lines rub anything, this is important! Done right its fine, and my Nova with 120k on the swap is proof of that, done wrong, and its a recipe for disaster. Just something to think about.

I pulled all the old lines out today, I'm going along the drivers side with all the fuel lines, but it's also like I said above, I'm only doing this till I can get it running and get the better lines put in, I'm trying to do this as professional as I can with the little know how I have on this subject, I'm pretty worried about leaks is the only reason I'm having this guy do it which is a professional business, this is the only thing they do

Over on ls1tech on hybreds and conversions page 1 or 2 there is a guy with before, during, and after the fire. I think it is a Nissan 240. I don't know, or don't know about using the rubber hose, but that is what he is talking about in his post.

It had everything I needed for a single fuel line system. I think I had to buy a short stick for the c5 fuel filter/regulator. Worked great for me. I liked it a lot.

A short piece that plugged into the fuel pressure regulator. It only cost a few bucks at the parts store. I think 10 or 15 dollars. The kit is pretty easy to use and it came with the cutters and crimpers. It was cheaper and better than rubber lines and clamps. Maybe not as great as steel lines, but I suck at flaring and don't exactly have the quality tools necessary for custom fuel lines. Besides, late model vehicles use the same type fuel line and they spent millions on R and D.

It was a very simple setup. I don't have any pics, but I may be able to get some in a day or two. And yes br3w is right. That is what the piece was. I will try and get a part number for you when I get the chance. Hope this helps some!

heck ya it did, i just got done ordering that kit, ill be looking forward to getting the rest of the stuff i need for the fuel system...hopefully by the end of next week ill be ready to drop the motor in

Im actually using a Dorman fuel line repair kit right now. First time I've used it so I haven't recommended it to anyone just yet, but does seem to work alright. I'm using both steel and nylon lines though, as I have to run the lines in places you can't secure it very well and would be afraid the nylon would rub through over time if it wasn't secured well. The down side to it is it's hard to get the nylon line, which comes coiled up, to straighten out, and there's no way to bend it in a tight radius. You can make bends in it since it's flexible, but sharper bends are only possible by clamping it in place with several clamps. I would recommend to anyone planning to run nylon the whole length of your truck, to clamp it with some Adel clamps (the rubber covered metal clamps that you can buy at the hardware store) every 18" or so, and to make sure NOTHING is rubbing the line anywhere.
