A Good mod......
As cops like to pull you over for anything just to see if you have been drinking (I once had a cop tell me they do this because they make more money off of it than anything).
Put these in your taillights and they will never go out, |

I've seen them at AutoZone and I think they were about $7-8 for a pack of 2.

I got them at Autozone.
They are not the ones I am putting in the dash. The dash lights are inverted white LEDS and are not in yet. |

These are 6 LED 194's for the running lights.
I coated them with epoxy to make them water tight today. I have them in Amber and Red for the truck corners. |

I've had my Jam Starits on for over a year now and still love them. They aren't anything new - sorry. Your talking to the LED king here.

Yeah,
Nothing new alright. The tailight bulbs shown at the top have been in for 2 years. I just pulled them out to clean things up and thought I would show a pic in case somebody was tired of getting pulled over for little things like this. |

Say you had a new Corvette and the local police chief was jealous and wanted it. He and his cronies pull you over and can't find anything to get you with. He "invents" a charge of drug residue on some bills in your wallet and then seizes the car. You never get it back. Sound far-fetched? Really happened in 1989 locally. |

Just walk into Autozone and go to the bulb section.......these are hung on a card and they are also the only ones like it.
If you mean the 194's I pictured, they came off eBay. Type in 194 LED into the search engine. |

What gets me is I thought the bulbs for front signal lights (not side lights) and brake lights are 1157's. But when I go to the checker or autozone website it shows them as being 2057's.
I am at work right now and cant check right now. I was looking at replacing the brake light and front signal lights with the LEDs similar to above (Mike's first picture), but they are for 1157's. Whats the deal guys. Whats the diff between a 1157 and a 2057? thanks Mike, how well do those (6) led lights work as far as spreading light around for the gauges? I would like to do that if they are as bright as stock or brighter. Pictures online look like they only light the edges of the gauge, not the entire face. Have you tested them yet?

Mike, do those LED's fit directly into the same openings as the OEM, both in the dash and for the turn signals, running lights?
Also, to Phoenix' question, is the candlepower equal to incindescent? Finally, can someone clear up the part no's. for running lights, turn signals and brakes? Thanks, Greg.

Those six LED bulbs are not for the dash in my truck, the pic below shows what I got for my truck. They are inverted LEDS and that means they spread light out the sides unlike standard LEDs do. PS: since pics don't seem to be working on this site (I tried 3 times) there is no pic attached. |

I don't have my dash LEDs in yet so I can't tell you if the above 194s will fit in there. I don't think they will so I got some inverted LEDs off eBay for that. |

You can go here to find light numbers for auto:
http://www.sylvania.com/auto/carapp/ Here is the one I did on there: http://www.sylvania.com/bin/carApp/c...+size&x=42&y=4 Based on this information the front side markers and the instrument lamps are the same. Mike anyway you can post a link to a picture of the LED's you are talking about (ebay or something). Or maybe send me an email with a picture:

Has anybody put an ampmeter on those? If they loaded a resistor in them to make them work with a stock flasher relay then they are not going to help me with what I'm looking for. I'm trying to lower power consumption. I have a Travel trailer that will charge off the tow rig and I'm running 440watts worth of highbeams. I'm trying to keep it within the means of the stock 105 amp alternator.
I already have a electronic flasher so it's not going to effect the turnsignals so I am more interested in the juice savings.

Surprised that the police haven't said these are illegal because they weren't made for the stock application.

Now that doesn''t mean A cop with his head where the sun don't shine wouldn't hassle you for it. Just need to show the legality to the judge. I would like to think that most LEO's have a little bit of common sense and if it makes good light and looks like a light on a stock vehicle that they could let it slide. Remember that if you draw attention to yourself and then give the LEO attitude there is a very wide gray area. There is plenty of stuff they can be a jerk about and tack on if your a disrespectful jerk to them or doing stupid junk in the first place. Now some of those CRAP clear lenses I see I wish they would hassle about. Some are JUNK and no way in hell they meet DOT standards.

All my lights in my truck except for one dome lamp and the headlights are LEDs. I had to fabricate the licence plate light LED by using a perf board resistors and some wire and a little cutting. If you need help finding bulbs just ask. My bulbs are either Jam Strait or form www.digikey.com
Headlights:4656 low 4651 high Front turn signal: 2057 A or 1157 A (A=amber) Rear turn/stop: 1157 or 1157 R Backup: 1156 Licence plate: 67 Side markers front&rear: 168 Top Dome: 211-2 Bottom Dome: 1142 or 1003 Dash & Indicator lights: 194 or 168 (dependent on brightness)
