artillery wheels
Any of you guys running artillery wheels on our era trucks? Im asking because my grampa 93 years old" gave me his 5 rims that hes had since 1945.He pulled them off a 1936 GMC he said he bought for 20$! He said hed love to see me use em. 2 of them are even reversed. Those are going in the back. I converted to 6 lug rotors and 71 calipers and they fit!!! I just had to shave like a 1/16" inch off the caliper. So if any of you habe a pic of our trucks on artillery wheels id love to see em.

There was a guy that lived a few miles from me that had a set of artillery's on a 60' short fleet and it looked good, the only drawback I thought is you're limited only to early dog dish style of caps.

Here are pictures of the actual artillery wheels. the big 900-20 that trailer was in Europe with Pattons Army during WWII

On the topic of what the civilian GM passenger vehicle crowd knows as artillery wheels,they are now reproduced and available in other sizes. I have one picture of a truck with this style wheel and I believe they are the new ones. Here ya go:

Absolutely use them, if for no other reason, they were your grandfathers. That is reason enough for me. Plus, they are just plain cool looking. I would powder coat those bad boys an off-white like in the picture special-k posted. You can't beat that look.

If for no other reason use them for your grandfather's sake! They are cool enough on their own but the sentimental factor is immeasurable!
