Hey everyone,

I just joined up because I've had a '66 fleetside longbed for a couple months now.

The truck was a light blue 250/3 on the tree that became dark green, that became flat black, and a 3 on the floor conversion. I've been going through things and making them better. The dash was a non-gauge, and most of the bulbs were burned out (that's another thread, as I put aftermarket 2" gauges behind the glass), the wiring was a disaster, the fuse block had bits of copper pipe instead of fuses, extra wires were run around inside, there's no turnsignals, and it runs hot. I thought the hot running was the thermostat, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Plans are to build something custom, 5.3 swap, auto, airbags....

anyway, thought i'd say hi!

Here's one from the day I got it. I traded a 1968 Plymouth Fury Convertible for it--even trade....not sure who got the better deal, but man, it's easier to find parts for this thing. I included a pic of the Fury, too. I had no room inside for it, and it had no roof...

The truck is solid. Someone welded a piece of diamond plate in the bed, and it's not fastened down in the corner that looks saggy in the picture. the frame is straight and solid.

The chevy is cool, I don't think the water pump is pumping...that'll be this coming weekend's project. It'll pass 230 degrees, there's a new thermostat, and there's a weird rattle that isn't pushrods or bottom end near the fan... I have a new pump and radiator...we'll see.

I'm a car guy (i'm bad at sports) the fleet also includes a Datsun 240z, an Austin Healey, and a 1971 Plymouth GTX. I'm a year away from 40, i'm pretty good with carburetors (esp. SU's), I found my niche and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

JEEEZ!!!! LOL. I found it in a carport in Atlanta. it had sat there since 1968. I had it running in 20 minutes, it's run pretty much perfectly since then. 49k miles.

I've got the knack to hunt barn find cars...I just don't have the capital or space to buy them all.... I've passed on several '78 T/A's (I want a solar gold SE or Martinique Blue so bad!!!), chargers, alfas, man...the stories...

I'll keep an ear out for that '58...

I should probably start a build thread. This weekend, I set the timing correctly, adjusted the carb, and did a couple laps around the neighborhood. Oil pressure is low...about 20 psi when running, but when hot, it drops to 5 psi at idle. I pulled the plugs to check them, I was worried as there's a miss and as there's definitely some blowby coming out the vent, 1-5 are perfect. #6 is oily and gunky...well, I thought, that explains that tiny little miss...I cleaned it up, and now that everything is tuned in, and not overheating (the truck had WAY too much advance...) i'll see what happens.
