The more common place is on the dash.

I think mounting it on the column is a problem since it moves with the shifter. Unless you have a floor shifter, you'd be ok.

I had an empty hole where the ashtray is supposed to be so I mounted mine in there!

I have had my tach in alot of different places . on the column, under the dash. Didnt want to cut holes in the dash. finding a factory tack is a excellant option. I finally dicided to mount it and a cd player in a console. But it really should be were you can watch both at the same time( road and the red line.)

I have mine off in thedrivers side corner of the windshield.

1974chevstepside: Where did you get that metal dash vent pannel, my vents are all busted up. I'm redoing the interior, so I need to spruce things up. Do they have the dash vents too?

I would go ahead and mount it in the bezel even if it looks a little out of place.

I mounted my new tach on the column. When I put it in drive, it's in a perfect location. I'll post a pic tomorrow, it even has a soft red glow when I turn the dash lights on. I have an automatic also, but with the new 3:73 gears I need to know the rpm's.

I bought it from http://www.trucknvans.com/billetacc/

It comes as a set with the bezel or sold separately, cheaper to go with the set though. They've got a lot of good stuff.
