Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

Got an email from 150tunes-$425 all in, shipping incl. I'll be stripping and packing that all up this week. Programming, VATS removal, harness, stub outs, everything. Couldnt find a bad reference to them on the web, and pretty quick with the return email for a Monday. Trans is in, Boppa picking it up today.

Maybe your local guy from LKQ can hook you up with the missing items from a comparable setup. I'd put on my best whine before I shelled out more bucks.

Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

Ask Vic, that's my usual MO. I used to be in the call people and beg them to do weird and out of the ordinary stuff business nationwide (R&D fab) Kent's known my brother for years, and he's just a dude in a warehouse with a phone. So it's not like he can just say go out and get one, it's all computerized, and they already clustered that once. I'd rather keep a good contact good. I just have to go yarding. Matt's got a solid hookup at the other corporate yard (that's an actual yard) in town, I'll give him a call, see what he can scare up.

Diggin the swap - you'll love it!
I've got an inline 255 I can send you. All I did was that in the stock line with a C5 filter/regulator.
What are you doing for exhaust?

Thanks for the offer-we're still weighing options-that's one of 'em. LKQ guy is hunting for TBSS Manifolds, but not much happening. Any ideers? Hell, I saw on Trucks where they used the OG truck manifolds and just heated and bent the framerail lip. I got a torch- might get crazy up in heah!

Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

I'd just put TBSS headers on it. They literally fell into place on my truck.
Just so happens I have a set of those too.
Wifegod and I may be coming to KC here in the next month or so, I could bring em down if you want em.

I used 150tunes for my harness, no problems at all except they are busy and it took longer than I thought. But no problem with the harness and they helped me out when I asked questions so I would definitely recommend them!

Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

Daily minimal update: emailed with 150 yesterday. I have to have a tac mod to pedal harness. The one that they cut both ends off and left the middle in the truck. Grrrr... And 150 does not make/supply them. (? PSI does) So now I gotta get one of them rollin' before I get to ship the harness to Spokane. Have I said Grrr? Ah, it'll be fine. Got nuthin' but time, Baby.

David- Thanks for the info, that's about what I'm in for, if I don't call and cancel out of sheer pissedness. Still waiting on them.

Ben- Thanks for the recommendation. Hope the next opportunity for a CF goes smooth. I can say they're pretty bang-on with returning emails. Also, it'll be cool, they're making me a stub-out for back up lights, which we haven't had since we went to a van column years ago. Neutral Safety Switch will be a nice bonus as well.

John- Good to hear! Roll by and mean-mug 'em till they get ma harness done! (when I, you know, get off my a$$ and send it to them...)

Annnywayyyyy... Eric is supposed to roll over tonight and eyeball all this stuff and let me know what the move is. Then I gotta strip and stash a buncha stuff. Then if the weather holds and Flyin' Ryan can get the Super-Trailer outta the woods we'll go get the 'ol bucket of loosely assembled bolts and drag it back here to Doofenschmirtz Evil Inc. Awaaayyyy we goooo!

I think TAC harnesses are universal to all trucks that bodystyle. Easy to pull in the JY too.

Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

I don't know why they would need the TAC harness to mod the main harness.

If you have both ends you can solder in extensions. To be honest, you'll have to take the connector on one end apart to get it through the firewall. I ran mine along with the DLC wiring through the old clutch grommet but had to pull them all out of their connectors to do so.

Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

I'm hip, I'm sending them everything so as to be damn sure everything is talking before I hit the key. I have both ends, and I could do it I guess, but I'd rather have an unmolested piece. Hoping to go yarding Saturday.

Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

Well, Eric came by tonight (in Rusty!) and he brought a spare tac-to pedal harness and some bellhousing bolts from his stash of LS stuff. Massive thanks to him! A huge load off my mind. Also thanks to Eric for showing me how some of the funky connectors come off to pull the harness, which is now on the floor, and answering a lot of dumb questions. Like I told him, I'm trying to catch all the things that are a 2 minute fix now, before they're a huge PITA later. Gratuitous shot for Johnny!

Hope to get it shipped tommorrow/Saturday.

Super clean! Amazing how trick these things are. My 2000 just rolled past 180k and runs like it's new. Thanks for the pics too!

I used www.fuelinjectionconnection.com for my harness. I have used them for 3 now (LS, LT1, and TBI), and the quality has been top notch. It is a new harness also, not a reworked original harness. Seems like it was around $600 or so to get the harness, PCM programmed, and harness tested with the PCM and TAC module- you do have to send your pedal, TAC, and PCM though. I can probably score you a pedal and TAC if you need it.

I ended up doing an in tank Delco EP381 and an '87 tank, but I did also purchase an inline Airtex pump to use also. Indecision will be the death of me I guess, but at least I will be prepared. Since you have already put in the rear mount tank, I would use the external pump. I still have this one new in the box if you need one.

If I was gonna buy a harness, it was between them and PSI. The pedal issue is handled, but thanks for the offer, I appreciate it!

Fueling is still up in the air, but being researched as we speak. I've come up with some interesting options, so we'll see how it works out. I appreciate the offer!

Saturday Update Time!

Ok, so Eric has the perfect work schedule for running the 'yards on Friday. So Friday, my mere mortal self was at work and my phone was blowin' up with texts with news of the yards! Public thanks to Eric for finding a proper LS dipstick and a couple plastic pieces that I needed, which he stashed for me. But I couldn't go because.... Flyin Ryan and I went and got Yeller, because it was baaaarely dry enough to get the trailer out and we got it while the gettin' was good!
