The time has come! 56 suspension advice!

I've been a lurker for awhile now, and I've finally found a truck. It's a 56 big window chevy, original owner but it's been parked for 25yrs or so. It's all stock, no cutting or anything like that. My question is what are some cons to the mustang II supension? Parts? Ride quality? Handling?

color me impressed

parts? available all over
ride quality? i like it over the straight axle but not a load carring front end
handling? truk handles like a go cart on steroids with 2 sway bars

I'll throw a couple pennies in-

I really like the 2nd gen Camaro clip on my '56. Haven't driven it yet, but it was fairly easy to do and offers a bit of a beefier setup than the MII/Pinto design, plus you're ready to drop a SBC/BBC/LS(with adapter plates) in.

I went with the NoLimit Wide Ride front suspension and the NoLimit FatBar rear suspension both with air bags . It also offered with coil overs. Check them out at http://www.nolimit.net

It's your truck, but are you sure you want to change it?

I used a 67 Chevelle clip with after market suspension.
Goes on a little different than the typical Camaro/Nova clip.

The main reason I went with the NoLimit Wide Ride suspension is because its not an adapted car set up like the MII.

The lower control arms are mounted in double shear making them stronger also the track width is wider placing the wheels where they belong instead of sucked in like so many MII set ups.

The camber & caster adjustments are easy.

It uses a Thunderbird Steering rack instead of the narrower MII.

The package comes with everything PS rack, control arms, brackets, shocks, springs, balljoints, bushings, sway bar, boxing plates, spindles, bearings, brakes, calipers.

1st pic shows the chassis upside down with the lower control arm.

The 2nd pic shows the complete set up.

This is the early cross member shown.

NoLimit has changed the cross member to a one piece formed unit making more room for the engine.

What are your plans for your truck?

1.Daily driver
2.Weekend driver
3.Want to beat on it
4.Do you want bags?
5.Do you want Coil-overs?
6.Do you want a power rack?
7.Do you want a manual rack?
8.What size wheels are you going to run?
9.Do you want to use a standard 11 inch rotor or something bigger?

Thanks for the replies!! I'm looking to make it a driver, get in, and drive anywhere at any time. Just want it to Drive and ride good. Not a show or race car. Also my budget is very limited. So I'm either looking at piecing a mustang II together or using a donor car. It will be low! Just not really sure of the pros and cons of each as far as price and ease of instalation.

X2 on No Limit Eng. kit.

I searched as much as I could on the web to see how other companies put together their kits. After doing my homework I drove out to No Limits' shop from AZ. The first thing that impressed me was his kit. I was impressed with his structural engineering of the kit and how it all was put together. It was only when I toured his shop saw his frames and the cars and trucks that where getting them, did it all come together. Rob took the time to explain all the features of his IFS kits to me then proceeded to show me his Fatbar 4 link setup for my 57 project. I wanted a kit that would hold a BB and 650 to 700 hp.

Three weeks later I ordered his complete kit complete with instructional CD for my 57 Chevy pickup.
