I've got a set of 15"x10" Cragar S/S rims (see below) that I will be getting powdercoated by a friend at work, and I wanted to put a set of 275/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As on them. They look like they have 3.75" backspacing on them (unless I measured them wrong). Can anybody tell me if I'll have any clearance problems before I go ahead and do this? I have a stepside bed by the way, if this makes any difference.

Shouldn't have any clearance problems, but with only 3.75" of backspacing, they're gonna stick out like crazy.

The correct backspacing is 4-1/2". Those rims will work if your truck is at stock height, but if your truck is lowered, they won't. They'll stick out a couple inches beyond your fenders.

Thanks Hutch, but I was just going on what the original post said. I have no idea how he measured the backspacing on his wheels. I was just saying that if it really is 3.75 inches, they will stick out.

With 10 wheels you will need at least 5.75 to 6 inches of backspacing for them to sit nicely under the truck.

So the correct backspacing for the rear is 4.5" or 5.75-6"? What would it be for the front rims (15"x8" with 235/70s)?

The backspacing on my 8 inch rims is 3.75. For every inch over I just add an inch of backspacing.

But... more than 4-1/2" (maybe 5"?) of backspacing will put the tire against the box on a stepside. I know mine are close now.

Yep, sure will. You have to cut the sides and floor and install mini-tubs.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but I have never liked 10" rims on anything other than a T-bucket. There are tons of trucks in and around the Houston with area 10's all the way around and they look terrible. They stick out too far....and as already stated, the proper backspacing would rub on the inside. Just my 2 cents. (yeah, i know..."Who asked ya?"

Thanks guys, you just saved me some money. I was going to have a guy I know clean up my rims and powdercoat them, but since they'd stick out way too far (and look pretty dumb in the process, I'll just put new tires on the Chrome smoothies I have on there now and save up the money for college (and other parts for the truck)!
