1995 350 computer work in an 87?
hey guys I'm currently looking for a computer to swap a 350 into my 87 chevy with a 4.3 tbi in it. There is a guy selling a computer out of a 95 pickup with a 350 and 4 speed overdrive transmission, but my truck has a th350. will this computer work with mine?

I would say no..
not sure of all the details many more guys on here with much more knowledge than me but.. 87 will be a 700r4 not a 4l60e and I am sure there are many more differences.

95 computer MAY work. As long as it has the sheet aluminum case. The cast aluminum cases won't interchange. The one for the 4.3 may work too. Check the numbers on it. 1227747 is one of the more used numbers. Harness has a good chance of working too. As long as the wires are long enough. Also for your transmission question, you can get software and a cable to hook the truck up to your computer and edit the transmission out.

Re: 1995 350 computer work in an 87?
i was hoping for a direct bolt on. the 350 is staying stock for now.. going to buy a load of parts and then put them all on at once.
I hear the computers for the 4.3 and 305 are different then the 350, this is why I'm looking for the 350 computer.. i don't want the engine to run like crap or lean out. i read somewhere that i need the 350 computer, knock sensor, electronic spark controller and throttle body for it to run properly.. having trouble finding 350 parts locally... millions of 305 parts but it seems like everyone is holding on to the 350 stuff now a days |

The 1227747 computer was used on a lot of applications. From the 4.3, 5.0 and 5.7 engines. Good info here. http://www.diy-efi.org/gmecm/ecm_info/1227747/

Re: 1995 350 computer work in an 87?
both the 87 4.3TBI and the 89 305TBI have the 747 computer... i don't know if I'm reading the prom right but i took the small cover off the computer and the 87 says "ABDT" and the 89 says "AMUF" neither of those are listed on that site from what i see. il attach the picture anyhow and maybe someone else can identify it.
