gas gauge reading
I have an original, behind-the-seat fuel tank in my '56 and I replaced the sending unit, which is the standard unit with the adjustable arm. Right now the gauge reads between empty and 1/4 when it actually has a half tank or even a little more. What's the right way to adjust the unit so it sends properly?

Uh, adjust the arm, gauge is not adjustable? On mine I made a cardboard section of the tank and adjusted it so I got the full range of motion before putting it in the tank. This assumes you go the correct ohm unit for the stock gauge (30 if I remember correrctly).

Does arm need to be adjusted downward, so it is at the end of its travel when the tank is nearly empty? I had assumed it was like a float that dropped as the level of fuel dropped.
