Thanks everyone Correction it is a 62 on the title. I thought the hood should be different, I know GMC stuff can be different though. That firing order diagram would be great. It is home tucked in the shop, let the fun digging in begin.

Aside from getting the engine running, I would go through the brakes and make sure they are in good operating condition. The hydraulic clutch and steering would be next on the list.

Just check the function of the clutch, which on the '60-'62 is hydraulically operated. The master cylinder on the firewall is 1/2 for the clutch and the other 1/2 is for the brakes. For the steering, check the steering box for excessive slop and check the tierods and idler arm for looseness, If they all check good, I would grease all the tierods, balljoints and control arm bushings. And since you have the grease gun out, may as well grease the U-joints too.

I'd add grease all the zerks til new grease comes out, replace all the hoses, including brake flex hoses, and at least flush the brakes.

And plan on new tires if the freeway is in the future.

Personally, I'd lightly wash it, and maybe use some CLR on the rustier bits, then drive it. The goodness of stuff that comes from OK is crazy. It's an hour away but something's different

Nice find! I would do a good cleaning and paint restoration on it. Some things might have to be repainted but the majority looks good. I wish mine look like that when I found it!

Somewhere along the years they charged the '60 hood off of her. She has the 62-66 hood, no biggie though.

I corrected that at the top of this page it is a 1962. The master cylinder was all gunked up and clutch stays on the floor. I think the clutch may be stuck to the flywheel can't seem to get it unstuck or it's not out of gear. Making it hard to turn the engine over with a socket. I poured marvel mystery oil down the spark plug holes may just need to let it set a few days. Sure seems tight right now hope it frees up.
