headlights
put new headlights in the old 64' c20, re-did grounds and cleaned up terminals on stock wiring plugs. low beams worked great for about 2 hours, hit a pot-hole and now the only thing that works are my high beams, checked all connections, grounds, high/low toggle switch. nothing changed it. any suggestions?

Re: headlights

Re: headlights
can you please tell me how to pull the stop pad off of the switch? i can't pull my carpet up without doing so. and I've looked at it for hours and couldn't get it off, is there a special trick or hidden screw?

Re: headlights
might be easier to check voltage at the back of the headlight. I've never removed that switch.

Re: headlights
The foot dimmer switch is very common to go out. I have had it go out on two different vehicles. Easy to swap, just to screws and the wire plug. If you have carpet, just pull it up from around the switch.

Re: headlights
If you have an old bulb, you could try just plugging that in and see if either side low beam works. Depending on how hard you hit the pothole it might have broken one of the filaments. Not very likely both would go out at the same time, but it is possible.

Re: headlights
X2 on the dimmer switch. I've had them either go bad or burn a wire. Then all that works are high beams.
