Re: Post your best budget mods! ($50 or less)
Several of my plastic clips that support the wiring harness have cracked. I also had several under the dash like this which are hidden from sight, My quick fix was to trim the cracked pieces off, drill a new hole in the orginal tab, and mount with a nylon rivet I bought at autozone. I bought 1/4" rivets and 5/16" rivets to cover the different size holes and trimmed the top of the rivot mount to hide behind original clip.

My favorite motor mod on-the-cheap is to recurve the distributor and set up the vacuum advance. Can almost always add some initial timing and get a very nice low end torque and throttle response improvement.

Door Checks.
went to the Pick N Pull, found a 2000-ish Jeep XJ and took the front door checks. $20! totally bolt right in, now the doors stay open with the detents, and don't hit the cowl. |

I don't have any pics right now, but the links in the post above will tell you everything you need to know. That is where I got my info.
I used the front checks from a 4dr XJ I think it was a 2000-ish, but not entirely sure. |

Re: Post your best budget mods! ($50 or less)
Not really a modification, but still a budget fix:
My 65 cab is on a 62 frame. The front cab mounts are located differently. I didn't want to move my existing ones in the event I ever go back to a newer frame. I tried finding replacement mounting washers, but they were rather costly. I found these for $10 shipped. Strut caps. ![]() http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...094604&alt=web . Re: Post your best budget mods! ($50 or less)
I painted my friends whole chassis with rustoleum for $50 or less for all the paint..
after I degreased it with diesel fuel then i grinded as much as I could to make it quicker to sandblast , and then I sandblasted it. 1 gallon flat black and 1 quart gloss black and a qt. of acetone less than $50. i sprayed 1 coat flat black with the chassis on its side with the tires still on it , I did the bottom side first. then I dropped it back on the tires to do the rest and get any missed spots . the next day i flipped it up on the other side . then mixed 1 qt gloss with 2 qt's flat black . sprayed the bottom side first then I dropped it back on the tires and finished it up. I didn't think to get any pictures of it after I had sandblasted it . |

Re: Post your best budget mods! ($50 or less)
This will apply to all years. I thought this truck would look better with the wheels painted body color so $7 for self etching primer, $7 for a close match to the body color $4 for assorted sandpaper, and a old green scrub pad we have...
